Frequently Asked Questions

How do I hang my piece?

It’s recommended that you use strong ceiling anchors and hooks to hang your piece. Avoid using suction cups or command hooks, as the pieces are usually too heavy to be hung securely using suction hooks.

Do you take commissions outside of your collection?

Yes! I would love to build something custom for you, whether it’s a custom hanging panel or something a bit bigger like custom window installation or set of transoms for a room in your home. Email me and I’ll get back to you ASAP with next steps so we can collaborate further on your concept.

How long does it take for you to build a piece?

It truly depends on the size and complexity of the pattern. Smaller panels can take less than a day, more complex ones with intricate shapes can be 2-3 days or more. The typical turn-around time for a made-to-order item from the collection is 2-6 weeks depending on complexity of materials.

Do you design all of your patterns yourself?

Yes - or I rely on my talented husband, who is a former architect who loves to draft patterns for me. My daughter will also sometimes help digitalize concepts as well. I’m so happy to be supported by a talented family. All patterns are unique to City Mouse Glass.

How did you learn how to build stained glass art?

I started as a hobbyist and then ultimately started working professionally building stained glass window panels for doors, transoms, and larger installations like ceiling domes with companies like Stearns and Company. It’s been a few years since I worked professionally, but I can’t resist my love for building big beautiful panels of glass.

Do your pieces contain lead?

Yes. But not enough to make them unsafe to keep in your home. Just to be extra safe, ensure that kids don’t handle the piece - and always wash your hands after handling.
